Farmington CT Tweed Ride, Sat May 4

Yep, Farmington Connecticut, that town west of Hartford featured in the children’s classic From the Mixed-Up Files of Mrs. Basil E. Frankweiler is hosting a Tweed Ride!

Here is a description from Bike Friendly Farmington (BFF):

Please join us for a Tweed Ride on May 4th. What is a Tweed Ride, you ask? It is when you take out your Old English Roadster (or any vintage bike) for a jaunt, dressed in appropriate attire. Seeing as how it will be May, some modifications may be needed. It usually includes a stop at a pub or a similar establishment. Such decisions will be discussed along the route.

This will be a completely unsupported ride. Start time is at 9:00 at the new trail parking lot in Plainville and heading over Rt 6 to Collinsville. You can also join in at various access points along the trail. We can rest in Collinsville and you can head back at your own leisure or stay with the group. Hopefully this will be one of three yearly Vintage Bike events including the annual ride in June.

If you don’t have an outfit, head over to Goodwill or Savers in Bristol. Ask around for an old bike to borrow. Be creative!
